  • Awards are made for 1 year only for MPhil study. You must have applied for admission by the relevant deadline. You must be following a 'research training' Masters course. You must intend to continue to a PhD at Cambridge. Applicants must be registered as liable to pay the University Composition Fee at the Home or EU rate. Students eligible for UK Research Council funding must have applied for such funding or be able to explain why an application to the Research Councils has not been made (e.g. no quota studentships available to the student's department). It is a condition that a successful CHESS student must accept Research Council funding if it is subsequently offered. Full-time and part-time students are eligible. Any subject area is eligible. Home students are eligible for a full studentship (University Composition and College Fees plus a maintenance stipend of £4,000 * per annum pro-rata). EU Students are eligible for a Fees only award (University Composition and College Fees).
