  • These are awards for new entrants in 2015/16 academic year. This bursary provides financial support to students entering higher education direct from local authority care. The student must have been in the care of the local authority for a minimum of 52 consecutive weeks immediately prior to beginning a programme of study. The bursary is available to UK students who on the 1 September in their year of entry to the university are aged 24 and under. Applicants must be studying undergraduate programmes at one of the university's campuses (Avery Hill, Greenwich or Medway) or at one of the university's partner colleges and qualify for the maximum level of government means tested maintenance or special support grant. Care leavers in receipt of a Greenwich Scholarship Programme award can also apply for the Care Leaver Bursary. The bursary of £1,000 per year is payable for a maximum of three years and part-time eligible students will receive this on a pro-rata basis subject to the number of credits they are studying. Payment in subsequent years is dependent on satisfactory progression and payment in a placement year is dependent on the placement being unpaid. In addition to the annual award, students will receive £100 in their final year towards the costs of attendance at the graduation ceremony. This bursary is not means-tested, but students are required to be in receipt of full student support. Students in the Medway School of Pharmacy are not eligible for this Bursary. Students will need to apply for this bursary.

The Scholarship will be paid to eligible students in the first year of study only and consist of £1,000 fee waiver and £1,000 credited to an Aspire@Greenwich card. Part-time estudents will receive a pro-rata fee waiver only.
