  • The awards are for full-time postgraduate taught courses whose content is relevant to developing countries. Candidates must have been offered a place on one of the following courses starting in September 2015 before applying under this scheme: Analytical and Forensic Chemistry, Computer Graphics Programming, Computer Science, Renewable Energy, Music, NET Distributed Systems Development and Translational Oncology. Candidates must certify in writing that they: are nationals of a developing Commonwealth country (see the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Prospectus for a complete list), and not currently be living or studying in a developed country; be sufficiently fluent in English to pursue the course; have at least an upper second class honours degree (most previous awardees have held first class honours degrees); have not previously studied for one year or more in a developed country; are themselves, or through their families, unable to pay to study in the United Kingdom and will return to their home country as soon as their award comes to an end. The commission will only consider requests to extend leave to remain in the UK post –award for those wishing to move from masters to PhD study. Strict conditions will apply.
