  • The University has received four awards under this scheme to support scholars commencing their studies in 2015/16. The awards are available to students taking the following one year Master's degree programmes: MSc Leadership for Sustainable Development, MSc Leadership for Sustainable Rural Development, MSc in Advanced Food Safety. Applicants must: Be Commonwealth citizens, refugees, or British protected persons; Be permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country; Not have undertaken studies lasting one year or more in a developed country; Hold a first-class or upper-second-class level honours degree or equivalent by the specified closing date (6 March 2015); Have applied for and been offered a full time place at Queen's on one of the eligible programmes above; Satisfy the University's English Language requirements for entry to the programme by the specified closing date (click here for further details); Be unable themselves, or through their families, to pay to study in the UK; Be available to commence their academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September 2015; Confirm that you will return to your home country as soon as the award comes to an end. Each scholarship normally covers: Student concessionary or other approved airfare to the United Kingdom and return on expiry of the Scholarship (arranged by the university; funded by the CSC), Approved tuition and examination fees (funded by the CSC), A personal maintenance allowance of £977 per month - rates quoted at 2014-2015 levels (paid and funded by the university), A grant of £225 towards the expenses of preparing a dissertation, where applicable (claimed from the university; funded by the CSC), An initial arrival allowance, including visa reimbursement where applicable (funded by the university), A grant of £200 for expenses for approved study travel within the UK or overseas (claimed from the university; funded by the CSC), Excess baggage allowance for up to 10 kilograms of books only, when returning home (funded by the CSC).
