  • This is open to armed forces personnel (both serving and service leavers) who wish to study a course at university. The course should lead to a qualification at Level 3 or higher, i.e. A-level (or A-level equivalent) and higher, including degree level and beyond. ELCAS expects students to study a course which is of direct benefit to the service and which leads to personal and professional development. The award depends on the applicant’s years of eligible service. Students will be expected to contribute 20% towards their tuition fees which they can pay either in full or in instalments. The grant from ELCAS will be paid direct to the University of Cumbria on their behalf.

NCTL Bursary for PGCE (Physics)
Trainees with a 1st/PhD or 2:1/Masters are eligible for £25000 bursary; trainees with 2:2 are eligible for £15000 bursary; trainees with a relevant degree and at least a B at A-level in physics are eligible for £9000 bursary.
NCTL Bursary for PGCE (Maths)
For trainees with a 1st/PhD: £25000 bursary; for trainees with 2:1/Masters: £20000 bursary; for trainees with 2:2: £15000 bursary; for trainees with a relevant degree and at least a B at A-level in maths: £9000 bursary.
