The following information is designed to provide candidates with broad guidelines on the criteria for the award of the Engineering and Computer Science Scholarship. This information is intended for guidance only. Postgraduate Scholarship applicants will be assessed on the basis of the following: Academic achievements: Successful candidates will be required to achieve the equivalent of a very good UK bachelor degree in an engineering discipline. Individual module/subject grades (including resits) will be considered. Percentage marking systems: The marking scale used in percentage-based grading systems varies widely between countries, subjects and institutions. As a result, when deciding whether a candidate's grades represent outstanding academic performance, the University's experience and knowledge of the country's educational system, of the student's subject area and of the marking systems used by individual institutions will be taken into consideration. Where appropriate, the overall ranking of the candidate within their cohort will also be taken into account. English language: Successful candidates will be required to demonstrate a good level of English Language proficiency. The Engineering and Computer Science Scholarship is available for all new full-time students who have been assessed as overseas for fee purposes, who are self-funded and who have been issued an offer to study at the University of Hertfordshire. The scholarship is only available for postgraduate taught courses in the Schools of Computer Science or Engineering, not for PhDs or research. Students who have completed a University of Hertfordshire degree and are applying for postgraduate study at the University may qualify for the UH Graduate Scholarship.
